Fundraising & Awareness Coordinator

Job Description

The Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes has been serving persons living with epilepsy, their families and their communities for 40 years.  The month of March is Epilepsy Awareness Month and March 26th is Purple Day.

The Fundraising & Awareness Coordinator will work with volunteer committees to support our fundraising initiatives and help us raise awareness of epilepsy and programs and services so that no one has to face the diagnosis of epilepsy alone.

Key Responsibilities

PD Awareness Events

  • Outreach to Schools
  • Outreach to Legislatures
  • Supporting the PD Committee and community volunteer leads with planning community events and promoting same
  • T-shirt sales/ mailings
  • Attend committee meetings
  • Attend community events

Fundraising Initiatives

  • Maple campaign
  • Spring raffle
  • Attend committee meetings

Purple Day Gala

  • Assist in securing silent auction prizes
  • Assist in ticket sales
  • Event logistics
  • Attend committee meetings

Bursaries & Scholarships

  • Update applications
  • Promote to high schools and universities
  • Collate applications for committee review

A/P & Administration

  • review and code invoices
  • prepare cheques
  • process credit card payments
  • prepare bank deposits
  • process mail; answer emails, general reception
Qualifications
  • must have a willingness and/or interest to serve those living with epilepsy
  • excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, Google Workspace) or a willingness to learn
  • excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • empathetic, approachable
  • excellent attention to detail
  • self-motivated
  • strong work ethic
  • must be dependable and able to work independently
  • must qualify for a Province of Nova Scotia’s Job Creation Partnership
