Use of Medical Alert Bracelets, etc. for Persons with Epilepsy

Medical Alert ID bracelets and necklaces inform paramedics, physicians or bystanders of your medical condition in circumstances where knowledge of your health issue could help them provide the care that you need in the event of an emergency. Seizures happen at any time, often without warning. Even if you have a warning, it may not be long enough for you to tell someone what you are experiencing. People trying to help need to know what is happening to you, and not everyone can recognize every type of seizure. It’s also critical for paramedics and medical care providers to know about your medications. Even after the seizure is over you may be confused, disoriented or unable to speak. A bystander would not know what has happened to you or what kind of help you may need.

Medical Alert providers may also have a 24 hour phone line that a healthcare provider could call to obtain more information about you, should you be incapacitated.
